Más de un centenar de artistas e investigadores nacionales y extranjeros darán vida a la
9ª Bienal de Video y Artes Mediales Chile 2009, encuentro que se realizará del 20 de
agosto al 13 de septiembre en el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo (MAC),
sede Quinta Normal (Santiago).
A través de exhibiciones paralelas, coloquios, talleres, charlas y conciertos audiovisuales,
el público podrá experimentar con obras interactivas, con instalaciones multimediales
e interdisciplinarias, conocer propuestas de vanguardia tecnológica, reflexionar
sobre las posibilidades de creación en Internet, revisar los aportes del video arte y el
documental en Latinoamérica, y —gracias al diálogo con expositores invitados— aprender 
nuevas herramientas de trabajo artístico.
Bajo el lema de “Resistencia crítica”, clave será difundir el arte digital e interactivo,
pero especialmente plantear una reflexión sobre el potencial de las prácticas contemporáneas
desde el uso de la tecnología y de los medios de información.

Daniel Urria. Getting it (over with)
Video



Getting it (over with) shows an enclosed space where a nude woman on a dais lying
down and look toward a pack, a kind of sea of dogs exhausted in perpetual motion
that trying achieve it. "It is the women a vicitim of a strange desire or has she caused
itself? She is posing their gaze on the animal power of its own desire? A brief sequence
that through constant repetition creates a tension without escape. Does she succumb
to the tension of this desire, it has she dominated or she is its own creator?

Daniel Urria (1976, Hamburg, Germany) Lives and works in Berlin.
Daniel Urria studied Fine Arts at the Catholic University of Chile. He moved to 
in Berlin 2002 where he studied Video Art at the University of Arts of Berlin (UDK). 
In 2008 he's got a Master's degree in Video Art with Maria Vedder. His work has been
presented in the Gallery Adler in Frankfrut and in the Art fair Berliner Liste among others. 
His work explores by means of the loop questioning the temporal linearity, depriving the 
work of a beginning or ending.Urria uses repetition (loop) giving it a proper sense, 
uncoupled from its role as descriptive strategy, creating works possessing a logic that
becomes tight. The characters in their videos seem to be caught in time and in the spaces 
as well as the viewer is deprived of any kind of narrative access in the flow of recurrent images.

Thiago Bortolozzo (1976, Campinas, Brazil) Lives and works in Berlin.
Graduate in Fine Arts, University of São Paulo, Thiago Bortolozzo works in different fields such as
installation, photography, sculpture and painting, always working through the intersection of mediums.
His works create a certain tension resulting in the viewer being compelled to question the possibilities
and the limitations of language.

Txalo Toloza-Fernández aka MIPRIMERDROP, Videoartist, performer, vj and comisari of exhibitions.
His audio-visual creations have declined towards the scenic arts and live sessions.
Among the projects developed among the years includes the implementation of audiovisual shows
the performer Sònia Gomez, audio-visual sets for the live performance of EQUIPO and subATAK,
the videoinstalation "Usted no está aquí" and the technical direction of "Rimuski" and

Victoria Macarte (1981, Plymouth, United Kingdom) Lives and works in Barcelona.
After training at Rose Bruford and Laban in London, Victoria began work at the age of 19 as a
soloist for Fran Barbe Dance at The Place. She went on to become dance apprentice to Butoh
master Katsura Kan, touring Europe and the UK for several years. Now, she lives and works in
Barcelona, where she develops her own pieces (Demented Sausage, Shit Bingo, This is Normal)
and is artist in residence at el Teatre La Unió de Sant Cugat and commissioner of their
New Tendencies Festival. She regularly collaborates as a performer with the video art collective
Deforma, in Cargando with the Apatches, winners of the Mercat de les Flors dance prize,
and Para Ofelias winners of the first edition of the Festival IDN organised by NU2s. 
She also collaborates with electronic musicians Javi Alvarez (Néboa, Dúo Cobra, Fluzo)
in Shit Bingo and Faunatika, and Juan Cristóbal Saavedra aka EQUIPO in Vibrail.lusions created
in association with the artistic space, Niu. She runs the organisation Kaze Daruma, translating
dance and art related material, and inviting artists such as Tadashi Endo, Yumi Fujitani and
Yumiko Yoshioka.

understands less, and has more curiosity towards the wildly different ways of music.
That actually makes him very content with his past travels, but also very intrigued

Equipo (1974, Santiago de Chile, Chile) Lives and works in Barcelona.
Juan Cristóbal Saavedra aka Equipo is a musician who has been experimenting
with electronic media and releasing records continuously since 2004.
Noted for his volcanics live sets, he has defined a intimate and simple way to
approach to electronic music in his releases for the labels Fueradeserie,
Pueblo Nuevo, Rodoid and Impar. Saavedra works in other art branches such as
cinema, theater, dance, visual and plastic arts, showing his work in different
formats regularely in concert halls and festivals.

Alba G. Corral (1977, Madrid, Spain) Lives and works in Barcelona.
Image engineer based in Barcelona, uses programming in real time to create
digital landscapes. She develops visual programming tools. In her work combining
form and technique, she achieves to create a narrative atmosphere that expresses
sensitivity and tasteful colors. She has come a long way involved in digital creations.
Her research is focused on creative generative art in real time. She uses the program
“Processing” as a tool of expression in the programming language. visualp5.net
is the community that she has created to share and learn everything about the world
of “Processing” and the tools of this visual code. She combines live performances with
workshops and courses on this material. She currently teaches programming at the
European Institute of Design and works as a programmer in the studio of the
Valencian designer Javier Mariscal. She has performed at Sonar, Primavera Sound,
Niu, Miscelänea, Femelek, Zentraus, fiestas Les Fatales (KGB), Fellini, Mostra Sonora
i Visual, Caixa Forum and other places, working togheter with artists of the electronic 
music scene like Arbol or Nikka among others.

En la obra Getting it (over with) se muestra un espacio cerrado donde una mujer
desnuda sobre una tarima está acostada y mira hacia una jauría, una especie de
mar de perros jadeantes en perpetuo movimiento que intentan alcanzarla.
“Es la mujer vicitima de un deseo ajeno o lo ha provocado ella misma?
Está posando su mirada sobre la fuerza animal de su propio deseo?
Una secuencia breve que mediante constante repetición crea una tensión sin escape.
Sucumbirá ante la tensión de este deseo, la tiene dominada o es ella misma su creadora?”

Daniel Urria (1976, Hamburg, Germany) Vive y trabaja en Berlín.
Daniel Urria estudió bellas artes en la Universidad Católica de Chile. Se radica en Berlin
el 2002 donde estudia Videoarte en la UdK Berlin (Universidad de las Artes de Berlín).
En 2008 realiza un Magister en Videoarte con Maria Vedder. Sus obras han sido presentadas
en las Galería Adler en Frankfrut y en la feria de Arte Berliner Liste entre otras.
En sus trabajos indaga cuestionar la linearidad temporal tematizando el loop o bucle,
privando a la obra de un comienzo o un final. Urria utiliza la  repetición (loop) dándole un
sentidopropio, desligado de su función de estrategia expositiva, creando obras poseedoras
de una lógica propia que las vuelve herméticas. Los personajes de sus videos parecen estar
atrapados en el tiempo y en los espacios así como el espectador es privado de algun tipo
de acceso narrativo en el flujo recurrente de imágenes.

Thiago Bortolozzo (1976, Campinas, Brazil) Vive y trabaja en Berlín.
Graduado en Bellas Artes en la Universidad de São Paulo Thiago Bortolozzo
transita por diferentes ramas de las artes visuales como instalaciones, fotografía,
escultura y pintura, construyendo su obra en base a la combinación de los diferentes
medios. Sus obras crean en el espectador cierta tensión, invitándolo a cuestionar
las posibilidades y limitaciones del lenguaje.

Victoria Macarte (1981, Plymouth, Reino Unido) Vive y trabaja en Barcelona.
Tras licienciarse en artes teatrales, Victoria empezó su trayectoria por la danza a los
19 años como solista para Fran Barbe Dance en The Place, Londres. Continuó como
aprendiz del maestro de Butoh Katsura Kan girando durante varios años como un
pequeño saltamontes por el Reino Unido y Europa. Actualmente reside en Barcelona

y comisaria en su festival de Nuevas Tendencias. Colabora en varias intervenciones de

Alba G. Corral (1977, Madrid, Spain) Vive y trabaja en Barcelona.
Creadora de código visual afincada en Barcelona, utiliza la programación en tiempo real
para crear paisajes digitales. Desarrolla programación visual. Conjuga forma y técnica,
consiguiendo crear atmósferas narrativas que expresan sensibilidad y gusto por el color.
Ha recorrido un camino siempre vinculado a las creaciones digitales. Sus investigaciones
creativas se centran en el arte generativo en tiempo real. Actualmente su herramienta
de expresión es el lenguaje de programación processing. Con la comunidad visualp5.net
ha creado un espacio para compartir y aprender todo lo relacionado con el mundo del
processing y de las herramientas del codigo visual. Compagina actuaciones en directo con
cursos y talleres sobre esta materia. Es profesora de programacion en el Instituto Europeo
Di Design y trabaja como programadora en el estudio del diseñador valenciano Javier Mariscal.
Ha actuado en el Sonar, Primavera Sound, Niu, Miscelanea, Femelek, Zentraus,
fiestas lesFatales (KGB), Fellini, Mostra Sonora Visual, CaixaForum y  otros espacios
colaborando, entre otros, con músicos de la escena electrónica actual como Arbol o Nikka.

"Culture is made up of memory, how to found something upon that feeble, fog-made construct?.
I remember what I remember, that sounds like something I've been told and I thought I had lived,
memory as a faulty, poor and blind probe, penetrating the dark night of our collective past.
People's memory is scum stuck on the corners of their objects, static and out-of-tune radio noises,
recorded voices, and a bundle of photos fastened with a rubberband.
Reality is made up of memory. And reality is nothing but three or four records, captured by poor
and biased mechanisms, written in even more restricted languages, to confuse us all.

Memories are sounds similar to worn-out, stained colors, audio extures slipping in your hands,
tasting like oxyde when closing your eyes.

Close your eyes and listen to those memories in modulated bits by minds that remember what
they didn't see, warriors from an amplified net, memory noises mixed up with bullets,
kerosene smell, a dream turned into nightmare.

These electronic works are mutilated encephalograms coming from the mind of the land,
fractured memory splinters, little stories, like fading black and white photographs,
trapped in the air like coarse fireflies in the midst of dark.

Listen to them: here's light and death, beauty and mantra, gear and oil. Flesh and memory."

Marise Cardoso aka DJIIVA and Amarilis Vitale are brazilian sisters who live in Barcelona.
They are inspired by  popular songs of their own country, these sisters offer a musical
journey where electronic music is mixed with soft vocal melodies and spoken poetry.
Breaks, Hip Hop and many surprises. NSISTA premiered at FEMELEK 2007, year when
their was selected for Emergents+Aprop of Barcelona City Council. Since then, they have
walked for events and festivals as Pulgas Mix, La Merce, Mostra Sonora i Visual, Stripart,
Etnia and recognized venues like L´Auditori, Niu, Sidecar, FNAC, Otto Zutz,
Sa cova d´en Xoroi (Menorca) and Kafee Burger (Berlin) among others.

EQUIPO
Cristóbal Saavedra aka Equipo is a musician who has been experimenting with electronic
media and releasing records continuously since 2004. Noted for his volcanics live sets ,
he has defined a intimate and simple way to approach to electronic music in his releases
for the netlabels Pueblo Nuevo and Rodoid. Saavedra has work in other art branches such
as cinema, theater, dance, visual and plastic arts, showing his work in different formats
regularely in concert halls and festivals.

One year after he publishes his first work, Present EP, at the Chilean netlabel Pueblo Nuevo,
Juan Cristóbal Saavedra aka EQUIPO, brings us Usted no está aquí EP,
music created for Txalo Toloza-Fernandez multiformat audio-visulal project with the same name.
Realized by EQUIPO and Miprimerdrop, Usted no está aquí it is provided with images captured at
the Atacama Desert during spring of 2007 and has been presented recently in the festivals
PANORAMA (Olot) and SÓNAR (Barcelona).

Sebastián Seifert & Charles Satchivi (Frozen Radio) Live-set that combines electronic music of netlabels
and performance in real-time. Frozen Radio, is a program of net-radio about art, music and culture;
born in a technological bunker (hacklab) of the Raval of Barcelona, from his beginnings he promotes
the free distribution of contents and music of netlabels in the network.

Tanox is the solo project of Guillermo Piazenza. Under this alias Guillermo explores the analog sounds
and mixes them with the digitalises creating a salad where the principal ingredients are the ambient,
the dub, the minimal techno and the darkpop. Piazenza also takes part of the musical projects Altocamet,
Run Run, Tanoxfoss and Beagle.

Visually the evening will be in charge of MIPRIMERDROP (Txalo Toloza-Fernández),
Videoartist, performer, vj and comisari of exhibitions. His audio-visual creations have declined towards
the scenic arts and live sessions. Member of the band of BleepHop "subATAK", he has collaborated with
Sònia Gómez, ONG Crew, Nosubjec7, Joan Morey, GameBombing, EQUIPO and djRaff.

Electronic day and Chilean by excellence. Three musical live sets visually intervined
by the images of Txalo Toloza (Miprimerdrop).

Songwriter GEPE, with the unamimus recognition of the musical press in Chile,
presentations along the whole country and two Europian tours, edited last May his
second album "Hungría". This album introduces electronic textures to his personal style.

On the other hand, PARANORMAL is the personal project of Rodrigo Santis,
guitar and voice of CONGELADOR. The proyect devotes to canalize the most experimental
part of this musician, using for it electronic textures that will later be broken by guitars,
liked it's seen in the records "Campos de Hielo" (QSC, 1999) and "Paranormal" (QSC, 2001).

Following, EQUIPO (Juan Cristóbal Saavedra) produces in 1998 his first experimental music
solo album under the pseudonym of PIKAP. After living in Berlin, where composes
the tracks of his first LP of electronic music under the pseudonym of EQUIPO, Saavedra
itself moves to Barcelona where he found the artistic collective DPENDIENTE.
Saavedra works at present in his projects EQUIPO, PIKAP, AUDITORIO and BEAGLE.

Visually the evening will be in charge of MIPRIMERDROP (Txalo Toloza-Fernández),
Videoartist, performer, vj and comisari of exhibitions. His audio-visual creations have declined
towards the scenic arts and live sessions. Member of the band of BleepHop "subATAK",
he has collaborated with Sònia Gómez, ONG Crew, Nosubjec7, Joan Morey, GameBombing,
EQUIPO and djRaff.

PUEBLO NUEVO is a chilean netlabel that publishes for free an extensive catalogue
of original music in MP3. Recently PUEBLO NUEVO has published, as a group with
the mythical label DICAP (Victor Jara, Quilapayun, etc.), a compilation in CD with
themes of their more representative artists, among the ones that they are found
DANIETO and EQUIPO.
DANIETO has since the year 2001 five CDs published in the prestigious electronic
label from Belgium U-COVER and has founded on Chile with Claudio Cisterna
the net-label www.impar.cl where he publishes too his own works. Remixer of artists
of the vanguard of the techno as Process (of the German label Traum) and Ontayso,
has carried out several presentations in Mexico, Canada and Chile inside the
prestigious international festivals MUTEK.
Juan Cristóbal Saavedra aka EQUIPO produces in 1998 his first experimental music
solo album under the pseudonym of PIKAP. After living in Berlin, where composes
the tracks of his first LP of electronic music under the pseudonym of EQUIPO, Saavedra
itself transfer to Barcelona where founds the artistic collective DPENDIENTE.

Barcelona, a Mediterranean city which is usually sunny, is one of the European most active
and innovative hot spots of audiovisual and multimedia creation. A large proportion of this
innovation and wealth comes from artists not born in Barcelona. These are people who have
arrived from a thousand and one different cities who have decided to spend some time here.
Many of them explore audiovisual language as a means of artistic expression.
Frame after frame, timeline on timeline, they put together visual and sonic landscapes in
which they embody their vision of the world, its passions and its secrets.
Apart from the computer applications used and the technology available, they are artists who
aim to give the idea of feelings and stories and in doing so, make progress in our knowledge
of the always surprising relationship generated between technology, artistic pieces and the
consequent interaction with the viewer. Whether by means of sensors, the mouse or simple
and direct audiovisual exhibition, they are artists who want to influence viewers, interact with them,
play with them and learn from them.
This small selection shows the creative capacity of eight collectives led by artists who have
decided to settle in Barcelona in recent years. They come from Seville, Bogotá and Berlin, and
are creating part of their artistic career in this city. It is a contribution to Barcelona's cultural
wealth that is difficult to quantify, but one which is obviously positive. Some of them have
recently exposed their work in the Barcelona art gallery Niu.
Niu is a cultural space located in the Poblenou neighbourhood of Barcelona. It produces, shows
and disseminates contemporary audiovisual art, multimedia design, digital art and independent
electronic music. The material for study, creation and exhibition is the “audio and visual” culture
arising from the emergence of digital technology in the world of art, design and communication.

"usted no está aquí" in panorama festival 2007 (olot/bcn)

“Usted no está aquí” (You are not here), last production of the audiovisual study MiPrimerDrop,
is a B Series docushow that can be articulated as a videoinstalation, live session or multichannel projection.
With the desert of Atacama as the protagonist, it`s the first joint work of the videomaker Txalo Toloza-Fernández
and the musical producer Cristóbal Saavedra aka EQUIPO.
Included in the program of the Festival Panorama d' Olot, the piece will be premiered in the
"Salón de Descanso del Teatre Principal d'Olot" May 31st with two livesessions, at 22 & 23 pm.
The Installation will remain open between May 31st and June 3rd in the same space.

(DICAP / Pueblo Nuevo / 2007)
"Música Chilena de Raíz Electrónica"(Chilean Music of Electronic Root) is the first CD compilation
of the Netlabel "Pueblo Nuevo". On this disc there meets a selection of topics published in our
catalogue online (www.pueblonuevo.cl), more four unpublished topics, which represent the different
musical facets that Pueblo Nuevo has gathered, selected and promoted in his almost two years of existence.
Beginning with the fusion of electronic music with indigenous tones of "Mika Martini" (Hugo Espinosa) and
"Lluvia Ácida" (electronic Group with residence in Punta Arenas, Magallanes); continuing with the rescue of our 
collective memory with "Sokio" (Mauricio Díaz) and his version of "El Pueblo"; then the mixture of electronics
and acoustic sounds of "Dr.800XL" (Felipe Zúñiga); following with a clearly and strong minimal & electro tendency
in charge of "Djef" (Daniel Jeffs) and "Equipo" (Juan Cristóbal Saavedra, Chilean settled down in Barcelona);
taking a walk for the digital and evocative abstraction of "Danieto" (Daniel Nieto) and Hans Carstens
(resident musician in Valparaiso); then to accelerate the pulsations with the rhythmic and
intensity of "Manziping" (trio also original of the fifth region), and finally, the learned electronics represented by
the prize-winning work "Whisssh...!", of the electroacustic composer Federico Schumacher (resident in Poitiers, France).

All this amalgam of styles and ways of facing the composition of electronic music, he realizes of the diversity and
quality of the exponents of the genre who have trusted in Pueblo Nuevo Netlabel as valid tool for the diffusion of his works.
On this disc published by the mythical stamp DICAP, there are fulfilled two of our biggest wishes: to take part of a stamp
with a historical catalogue, contributing digital tones, and to take Chilean music of electronic root to a new public,
beyond the virtual networks.

Pueblo Nuevo, el ya veterano netlabel chileno, sello del que no teníamos noticias

a modo de precioso regalo, se nos ofrece un segundo corte conmovedor.
